How can I make my bass guitar sound like a electric guitar?
Question by Metalheadhellyeah123: How can I make my bass guitar sound like a electric guitar?
I know a little bit about it by using distortion pedals, but is there any other effects i can use? What I am aiming for is doing a guitar solo on a bass, that sounds bad ass just or equal to a ele guitar solo.

pitch shift + eq? ;/
I don’t really see why you’d want to do this. Why not just fuck around with settings and shit and get an awesome bass tone?

Just like a bassist to try and solo.
You play bass, not guitar.
I’m not trying to be an jerk, but NOBODY want’s to hear a bassist play a guitar solo.
I suppose that you could use any effect you want. Gene Simmons used a lot of distortion and echo during his solo before “God Of Thunder”.
Mike Anthony (during the Van Halen heyday) used an Electro-Harmonix Bass micro-synthesizer to get some pretty strange noises.
As far as bass soloists go, Billy Sheehan is probably the all-time king. He does a lot of tapping and stuff, but doesn’t use a lot of effects.
So, it really kind of depends on if you’re going for something melodic (like Sheehan) or something noisy (like Simmons).
Either way, don’t forget that your first job is to hold down the groove.
Good luck.
