I am trying to play a bass tab for the Foo Fighters song Rope on a virtual piano through Garage Band on my Mac. However, to do this, I need to figure out where all of the notes on the tab fit on the piano. I’m aware that there are multiples of the same note on both the bass guitar and the piano, so how do I know which notes to choose? How can I figure out what octave I am in?

I’ve been playing piano for 15 years and doing things like that.
Honestly there are no rules, just play it where it sounds good, if its bass, preferably one of the lower octaves then

if you can read music this would be extremely easy, if not just play the notes on a bass and match them on the piano. you could probably figure that out without tabs though.
