Im not taking summer school this year so ill have plenty of time on my hands this year when summer rolls around. it want to take up the bass guitar as a hobby and get good and it, but i dont know where to start. i want to self teach myself, so where should i start? i know i need to learn the basics, like how to tune a bass and the chords, but after that what then? learn a song til im really good at it and move on? what should i do first?

youtube is the best place to start. there are endless vids on how to play. There are several different ‘teachers’ that post videos regularly for viewers as well. Just go to youtube and type ‘learn to play bass guitar’ in the search, and you will be on your way to playing in no time! my son is now a very good guitarist and that is where he started, and taught himself everything he knows. good luck and have fun!

I did this last year. I got bass for dummies and it was good as it fought me the basics. Bass is pretty simple you just play the string there aren’t reply any chords like a guitar. If you have a tuner it will help tuning. Bass fir dummies also shows you tunIng methods. I learned as i went. I found easy songs onthe internet ( or just songs I like that seemed easy when i looked them up). I just play songs that you like.

If you have a friend that plays bass that doesn’t easily get agitated that’s a good place to start. I learned a lot from a friend of mine. After that you should learn easy songs, probably punk. AS you gradually get better, you will be able to play more songs. Thus, you will be awesome.
