Playing a 1982 Hamer 12-String Chapparal Bass through a 1969 Marshall Super Bass and a 1981 Fender 2 x 15 cab. This was Jon Brant’s main bass used with Cheap Trick from 1982 – 1987.

QUESTION. Can you play a bass through a SuperLEAD? Thank you. Very much.

Sounds sweet, I also like your playing of “Dream Police” – where can I get me one of those?

Great info thanks! Guess I wasn’t thinking about the B12S thing. Seems more people identify with the “Chapparal” name though.

Those are really fun basses!

That’s actually not a Chapparal bass – those didn’t come out until the early ’90s. Yours is called a B-12s (30.5″ Short Scale), with the LP Special-based double cut body.

The Chapparals are based on the Chapparal guitar series (which started @’86) and are a 34″ scale bass with dual truss rods and EMGs. The model name for those is the B-12L.

Nothing in the world sounds quite like ‘em!

Yeah, I sure miss her.

It’s always hard parting from stuff like that.

Awesome guitar! Yeah, I hear ya. I have some other vintage stuff I have had to sell in the past, but I just had to get this when I found it for sale!

Wow, gotta love the vintage stuff.

I had a 56 gold top les paul, and I don’t mean the reissue…

I had to sell it for personal reasons, however.

I gigged with it a couple of times. It is different in that your fingers and forearms get more of a workout due to the amount of strings you have to press down. I usually play a ’66 P-Bass.

dream police!!!!!

I don’t play bass…..but my friend does, and he thinks playing a 12 string like this would be way different. Is it much harder?

Prices for a late 80s/early 90s Hamer 12-string usually center around $2K. Famous artist pieces are generally more.
