I have an Alembic Orion 5-string. Your Series II beats mine by far!
Alembic is the best, and the people at Alembic, such as Mica Wickersham,
are so great to deal with. Good job here. Thank you for sharing your
prize possession and talent.

As I see you set the tone together when you use both pickups. What happened
if you set differently the tone controls?

The Alembic P pickups are much louder than the J pickups because there are
more coils. If the preamp has two trimpots inside the controls cavity (on
the filter boards of two filter models, or on the main board of single
filter models) you can adjust the gain for each pickup and get their output
the same without altering the tone. The Persuader came with a single preamp
package and has only one trimpot inside for overall output level (you can
set it to match the output of your other basses)

Standard package for Persuader is indeed volume, volume and filter. If you
have a pan pot you might have one with a custom electronics set (either
from factory or later installed) If you are lucky it includes two preamps,
look inside the controls cavity to be sure. With single preamp electronics
you can match the pickup outputs somewhat with adjusting the pickup height
(setup P pickup low and J pickup high) According to Mica from Alembic it
shouldn’t mess with the tone.

Someone must have screwed with the electronics of your bass because the
Persuader’s original configuration is neck pickup volume, bridge pickup
volume, and q-filter. not volume, filter, pan. If someone turned one of
your pots into a pan pot that explains why your neck and bridge pickups
have such unbalanced volume outputs. Also bot pots have dials attached to
them on the inside of your electronics cavity that allows you to control
how much of a volume difference each pickup volume knob makes.

how do you like the 16.5mm string spacing at the bridge?

Mahogany body and fancy top are standard for the Persuader models, the only
Alembic “production” series with a solid body (Koa) were the first +/-100
Spoilers. (I think the Kit guitar and maybe some Distillates also came with
a solid body, never seen a solid body Persuader though)

The Persuader is woodwise identical to the Spoiler model, the only
difference is in the pickups and electronics package – Activator P, PJ, PP
or JJ pickups, vol, vol, tone with single preamp for the Persuader. and AXY
pickups (inside almost the same as the P and J activators) vol, filter + Q
switch (on the Persuader the “Q” is always on), pickup selector with double
preamp for the Spoiler. Very nice bass & vid!
