For any person thinking about taking up bass, but not to sure what to look for when buying one, I thought I would put together a few tips. And remember they are only tips, you can buy what ever you like, but I think something thats feels good to you and won’t apart are fairly important. Cheers
I have once before touched on Squier basses but I thought I’d show more on what I thought and how they sound.

But before you buy,try it, make sure you like how it feels it both your hands and that it isn’t too heavy at the headstock etc. also, make sure the neck is straight. Then of course, do you like how it sounds? If you start off looking at good brands but their entry level basses, you should be fairly safe. I hope this helps, cheers

Hey, firstly i’m in New Zealand, so not sure of where you could go to get a good deal. Sorry. But in regard to price, I have found that you can get some pretty decent basses around $1000 NZD, So maybe $6-700 USD?? For that price you should get a good bass that will last until you are ready for your next step up.

Squier Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe. I swear on my ancestors graves it is as good as a MIM Fender.

My first bass is a Squier and i like it better than the Fender in the music room at school.

Look for Squier Affinity P Basses made between 1996, and 1999. These were superb, essentially, American Standard quality body and neck with cheap pickups. You can tell these by the full width body, large open tuners, and “By Fender” written in regular font – not with the backwards “F”. Get one,(about $100.00) put Fender original P Bass pickups in it(about $60.00), and you will have as good a Bass as is available at any price! Beware of the Standards in that vintage tho, they were horrible!

They are usually lower quality but they can go up in quality as you go up in price. I had a washburn which I hated because it was bulky but it was that bass itself. I’ve tried others of the same model that felt differently. It depends on the wood. This is a reason I don’t trust internet purchases. I always go local.

The Matt Freeman Signature Squier P – Bass is one of the best P Basses out there right now. Try one, you’ll see!

if you play closer to the fret line (bridge side) not in the middle, you won’t get ‘fret buzz’.

@1:05: Vintage Vibe? You mixed Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe, I guess? ;)
Great video, none the less. :)
I own a Squier Affinity Precision, but upgraded it with a Fender MiM neck, and a new bridge, tuners, and a few other things. I own a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass as well, really nice too! :)

If you use a pick you don’t just go to hell, you go to bass hell, it’s full of lead guitars and people smacking around flea basses
