i´m also using the (green) Regular Slinky 5 strings, but i might check out the (purple) Power Slinky Bass 5 strings next time since i often play metal music and play in A standard tuning.

Hey man, I like playing songs like Slipknot and stuff that would be in drop b so I was going to get a 5 string! Do you think the power slinkies will be okay for going to drop b ? Please reply!

i have super slinky (light gauge) strings on my bass but i have a problem with the strings sort of “slapping” against the fret board so im forced to play very lightly, but i really like to dig in when i play. would getting the power slinky (heavy gauge) help with this? another question i have is should the strings be higher off the fretboard as you go to the higher frets? on my bass i notice the strings slightly slant up as they get closer to the body.

GDAE strings i dont really mind being a TINY bit loose, but i really like B strings to be nice and tight. If you can help me out, I would be sooo thankful. Thanks man.

Alright friend, I need your help…
I have a Shecter stilleto studio 5 string bass…I like a nice tight tension and feeling on the strings…that was almost a “thats what she said” XD. But Really, I’ve wasted almost 150 dollars on strings, and havent found a set that gives me a nice tight B. Any advice?

Hi friends, i am recovering from wrist pain so i want to play with less hands effort..i play pop punk like Alkaline Trío and Early blink 182 and old Green Day stuff. So i was thinking change my strings to a lighter gauge from 45 to 40, do you think is right? Or it would affect my sound?

So with the “135 – 035″ gauge strings knowing it tunes to GCGCF, would I still be able to tune it BEADG?

It might be because you have wounded strings… they make a more “dum” sound.

can i remove all that strings at one (on a 5 string bass) for a fretboard maintenance and cleaning?

it depends on how your bass is set up. if you go to your local music shop you can just have them set up your bass for the dropped tuning. You don’t have to buy a 5 string set, just get a thicker gauge on a four string set. Another thing to consider is scale. Most bass guitars are 34 inches give or take, so that should be ok, but if you have a short scale bass, expect a lot of wobble

I’ve got a question: I have a 4 string bass and i want to tune it in low B. My idea is to get those first 4 strings from the 5 string bass and get it tuned; and my question is would i get a good reading out of that low B considering the differnt scale lenght of the two basses??… or would i get a slapy B string in comparation with the other 3?…

Can you use normal scissors to trim the string?
