Actually no… two notes is merely a diad. To have a chord, you must have three notes. Look it up on wikipedia. The major or minor third interval sounds like a chord, but it is not technically a chord.

2 notes make a chord. Just sayin’
Leave out the 5th … or the 3rd and you still have a chord.
Unless it’s just octaves …

I totally agree. Everyone should learn as much as they can about the instrument that they play. It makes one a more complete musician.

This technique works better with a pick than the finger only style. I think ultimately, if you want to be a real master of the bass, we should learn to play with pick and without. I think that way, it really opens up the instrument.

My Metal Bass is so Muddled compared to a Jazz sounding Bass, but that’s how I like it.. I really rely more on my 6 strings to carry a song. Working on a it though, and trying to innovate my own sound as well. :)

why is everyone going ‘YOU PLAY CHORDS ON BASS!?’ its still a guitar you can do everything on a bass that you can do on a guitar.

Actually on second thought, it’s more common in jazz and blues than anything else.

Yes you play chords on bass :/ It’s common in punk music and some rock music, during choruses. You’ll notice that while most bassist won’t use a pick, some do because they play chords, and a pick makes doing that easier.

I hate chords like this lol, my ears hate the flat 7, but nice lesson dude! Also, your bass looks silly with only one tuning knob on bottom, xD.

nah. Its omitted because its a part of the Major, Minor and Dominant scales, i.e it isnt unique. Since we usually only have 4 strings on a bass it generally helps to only play the essentials
