www.corsidiliuteria.it – Using a Frudua GFJ bass guitar, Luthier Galeazzo Frudua explains how to obtain the best tone from your bass guitar B string and an even response on the whole bass fretboard. Part 2. GFJ BASS FRUDUA DIRECT DEAL Photos at www.fruduadirectdeal.com WHICH STRINGS TO USE: Enrie Ball never let me down but consider that I am talking about Italy market. Due the un constant quality I have found here in major brands I came to the conclusion that most of them are sending their lower quality production runs over here. The situation may be different in your country, for example in USA or UK or even Germany, where I think they sell their first quality and there may be a lower percentage or faulty strings. Also remember that too much of a strings angle over the saddle and beyond (for example on strings through body) damages the various (and very complicate system of) overlapping windings especially of the bigger (low b) strings thus affecting sound and intonation. You can trust me for the words, I have made severe tests. Write if any! If you are on a budget, the trick is to be frugal, but not cheap! I’d recommend using flatwound strings, they’re a bit more mellow and warm, and you don’t get scraping sounds from the windings! A set of D’Addario flatwounds will cost you $30-$40 bucks, but unless you’re a heavy popper, you won’t need to replace them for years, as opposed to every couple of weeks. Short-term pain, long-term gain! Just don’t forget to clean them when you’re done!

@makeshift26 Hey, makeshit26, another keyboard warrior who can only post videos of other people, can only post a personal attack, but again, a know nothing. You’re a dime a dozen, a troll, a piece of shit. Here’s a thought: try CONTRIBUTING or STFU. Let us know where you’re gigging tonight, and we’ll all come out and see you.

The string will twist on itself both you do it by hand or by turning the peg.

Written By FruduaTv on September 4th, 2012 @ 10:05 am

You won’t get twisting on the B-string unless you wrap the string around the post by hand (like he did in the video with the first loop). Just always do it by turning the tuning peg and you won’t have that problem. That said, it’s an interesting point to be aware of and worth checking before completely tightening up the string.

@xhibitionism You obviously don’t know shit about basses. All my basses at 34′s, the B’s are solid as as ROCK, sustain for DAYS. This is what I do, and have done for a living, since 1972.

“The second thing that we have absolutely to be sure of is that we mount the strings correctly, especially the low b-strings, which is a very big one, which is a very big diameter… this is the B-string, you put it inside… ”

If I had a nickel for every Girlfriend that said this was an extremely weird fetish… ;-)

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that you’ve never played a Sadowsky, right? ;-)

Hell, most of MY current 5+ strings are 35″ (5 of 7) & I prefer the certain something you get, but you pay a price with stretches, less choice of strings and simply a different *feel* due to the increase of neck/body mass compared to 4s. And I’d put my ‘Ray 5 or ’96 Ibanez SR-1206 (better than almost anything they have out now) against my Spectors or Mike Lulls. 1″ is only a 7% increase in string tension.

Fantastic video Galeazzo, la ringrazio per il dono!
I would say however, that a vibrating string does not create an elliptical path, but a parabola. Geometrically both are surface intersections of a conic surface however an ellipse has far nodal points at 90° and a parabola does not ;-D

I took one of my 5-strings to check this out. It made three turns in my hand and after stretching and tuning back up it seemed nicer. Certainly worthwhile remembering to do this. Thank you again.

On 34″ scale bass all you can get from B string is a fart sound.

but was about acoustic and electric guitars, not bass?

Written By theblueteam10 on September 4th, 2012 @ 2:44 pm

Ok let’s calm the tones down here ok?

#17
Written By FruduaTv on September 4th, 2012 @ 2:55 pm

yes this is a problem with any tupe of string for bass or guitar, in case of guitar you especially need to take care of this when mounting strings on a Floyd Rose

#18
Written By FruduaTv on September 4th, 2012 @ 3:49 pm

the rolling of the string never occured to me, and has never been mentioned to me in articles Ive read, is this a problem with acoustics and electrics also? Makes me wonder how many times I may have possible messed my strings up ha ha ha!

I haven’t been building instruments for years, i’m not the one who uploaded this video. It’s just how i do it, and i’ve never built an instrument – yet. Though i’ve read many guides and listened to many different people, and no one yet said that you should bend before cutting. And i still see no sense in it, since you can get the perfect measure doing it like that. The string can be winded perfectly even when you cut before bending.

You have got the bass tone I’ve been trying so hard to get. It must be that bass. How much would be the price for one of your custom basses? I want my friend who happens to be in this towns greatest successful bands to check out your creations.
