In the world of playing the Bass, when Victor Wooten speaks, people listen. The Entertainer caught up with Victor Wooten at this year’s NAMM show in Anaheim. Victor Wooten is a 5 time Grammy winner, he has won the “Bass Player of the Year” award from Bass Player magazine three times in a row (the first person to win the award more than once). In addition to a his award winning solo career and collaborations with various artists, like legends Stanley Clarke and Marcus Miller,Wooten has been the bassist for Béla Fleck and the Flecktones since the group’s formation in 1988.

The bass is very underestimated in my opinion. The things Victor can do with with a bass is truly astonishing. He knows what groove actually is. He is a pure genius

Victor Wooten is probably the best bassist in the world. Some say it’s Jaco Pastorius but I like Wooten’s style better!
